Follow up to Apple’s love article

September 10th, 2009

By Jon M. Cohen

Well, Sept. 9. 2009 has come and gone, and Apple did make a few announcement that are big deals, but I will have to admit that I was wrong about my prediction on “The Beatles”. I guess I was a victim of my own wants and needs. I was really looking forward to iTunes offering “The Beatles”, I still do believe the addition of the greatest music band in history is not far away, I just hope it does not take to long to get them signed on.

As for my other prediction of the camera in the iPod Touch, well I think that was indeed suppose to happen but due to a glitch in production Apple held off on including it. My gut tells me we will still see an iPod Touch with camera before the year end.

Some nice new Apple toys announced on Sept. 9th. 2009 where the addition of a video camera in the iPod Nano, and new colors for the Nano and iPod Shuffle.

Other then that and some basic add ons to iTunes (Social Networking and LP (Extended Art for the Album)) Apple really didn’t “WOW” me with this event.

I hope the next event will be better.

iFreePlay – Monster (Headphones for the Apple iPod Shuffle)

September 9th, 2010

I was greatly impressed by this product. It featured a lot of great sound in a slick cordless “Street Style” form factor and a price of $49.99 (MSRP). It is a great value for this level of portability without giving up much on the audio side. From the simplicity of packaging to the fact that it folds up, these headphones are a winner for 99% of the population. I must comment that I am in the other 1% of the population that have issues with how they fit. The problem is I have a big head? A big head sounds like an odd thing to comment on, but for these headphones it makes a big difference. I have a head circumference of 22″ and due to this I had a hard time using these headphones because it didn’t reach over my ears correctly, and this would be my only criticism.

Some of the things about Monster’s iFreePlay that I really loved is the lightweight of these headphones, they were extremely durable and comfortable to wear. The iFreePlay is a slick pair of headphones that the shuffle slides right into and it was super easy to use. I would recommend this for people who like to listen to music while they jog or workout, if you travel, if you like to listen to music at work or play and any other time. All in all, a great toy (add on) for your Apple iPod Shuffle.
